Four auto clubs joined together with the Suzuki 4×4 club recently for an adventure in the beautiful Karoo.
The weekend of 21 – 24 March saw that adventurers from Cape Town, Mossel Bay, PE and even Johannesburg met in Steytlerville before heading off into the Baviaanskloof for a long weekend of beautiful scenery, 4×4 challenges and moments to remember.
25 vehicles (13 of which were Suzukis) left in the early morning and took on the Antoniesberg Mountain Pass in cloudy and rainy weather. After a refreshment stop in Patensie in the beautiful Gamtoos valley, some river crossings and lunch in Smitskrall at 4Xvuuren Adventures, they reached the Doringkloof camp which was home for two nights. After a day on the Baviaanskloof Mountain Range, Karredouw was the next destination. Two different routes were tackled by two different groups – the first followed the 78km 4×4 route while the remainder of the group took the more scenic route via Nuwekloof Pass and Uniondale. It was really raining hard on the last stretch via Kouga Dam to Kudu Kaya which was the end point of this wet but magnificent adventure.
